Quick answer
On 2 November 2026 we launched online registration, renewal and transfer of Legal Entity Identifiers (LEIs) for companies in Estonia and other countries. We check the application data, and the code is issued by WM Datenservice, an accredited LEI issuer in Frankfurt. A one-year LEI costs €49 excluding VAT; the five-year package works out at €39 a year.
Eesti Firma has added a new service: online registration, renewal and transfer of LEI codes for Estonian and foreign companies, funds, trusts and foreign branches. An LEI is a 20-character code defined by the ISO 17442 standard that identifies a company in financial transactions. Clients have been asking us for LEIs for years, and we used to send them elsewhere. Now they can apply through our website, in English.
Why We Added the Service
Most clients who ask us for an LEI need it for their business account rather than for securities trading or derivatives reporting, where EU rules require one. A typical case is a company with a Revolut Business account that wants to invest through it, from shares to crypto-assets. Revolut will not open its Business Invest account until the company has an active LEI.
An LEI is a small formality, but once a bank asks for it, everything else waits. We wanted our clients to be able to get it from us, without having to find a provider themselves.
This is where we differ from a specialist LEI website. For us the LEI is one service among many for the same companies: we register them, provide their legal address, keep their accounts, file their annual reports and help with licences and other legal matters. If a question comes up, you talk to people, not a chatbot: you can call or email our team, or meet us at our office in Tallinn.
Who Issues the Code
The LEI system is overseen by the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF), a non-profit set up in 2014 by the Financial Stability Board on a G20 initiative. GLEIF does not issue codes itself: it accredits issuers and publishes every LEI in a free public database.
We work with WM Datenservice, a Frankfurt-based financial data provider that has issued LEIs since 2013 and has held GLEIF accreditation since 13 April 2017. You can check its accreditation on the GLEIF website.
The form fills in the company’s details from the register, and you pay by card, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna or Revolut Pay. We then check the company in the business register of its home country and confirm that the person applying is authorised to act for it. WM Datenservice validates the data and issues the code. You receive the LEI by email, usually within one or two working days.
Prices at Launch
| Package | Price | Per year |
|---|---|---|
| 1 year | €49 | €49 |
| 3 years | €135 | €45 |
| 5 years | €195 | €39 |
Prices are shown without VAT; Estonian VAT of 24% is added where it applies. An LEI has to be renewed every year, or it lapses and banks and brokers may stop accepting it. The three- and five-year packages cover all renewals for their term.
If your company already has an LEI from another issuer, you can transfer it to WM Datenservice through our website free of charge. The code stays the same.
If your company needs an LEI, or you are not sure whether it does, apply on our LEI page or ask us first.
